I said in the 2nd video that we would have to look into whether or not FDA employees can buy stock in Monsanto. Obviously if they can they have a vested interest in the success of the company and there is a conflict of interest. Well, the FDA employee guide, list of acceptable companies to buy stock in includes Monsanto as a big "OK!" per their website. http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/WorkingatFDA/Ethics/ucm079718.htm I'd been searching to shore this up with proof after playing back the video. This is nice to have. Here is the context http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/WorkingatFDA/Ethics/ucm079482.htm On this link you'll see, the companies that aren't acceptable are those where the previous year 10% or more of the company's earnings came from products the FDA regulated. I'm sending these to some friends to look into but I just wanted to finally back up my statement to be responsible. Sorry for the delay.
Hi! How about good news! That's what you'll hear when you press play above. Not the video but that little audio play button directly above 'Hi!' With the difficult news we face when we pay attention to the world so closely in the struggle to find food and protect life we share this Earth with, we have to know when we are winning. It may not seem like we are, but this project has a lot of potential and so do all of the other fighters out there. We are one giant, highly motivated community- united over solving this problem.
We have been having success and want you to know what we've been up to. A lot comes from directly "meeting" you whether that is facebook, twitter, email, phone or in person. We have gotten so much momentum from these new friendships. I know some of you that feel beaten up by what is going on- the cards so stacked against us. But just keep your eye on the prize and stay hopeful.
We have done some intense work in the last two days to make a video series that will be on specific subjects like how to shop, or what we've been doing and why it matters when you take that last step and eat no GMO's you can help. All these topics in 5 minutes each. The lighting was bad because it was late but why wait to tell you we're excited? Thank you so much for your participation in this project. GMO-Free Portland! really is all of us together. Our dream is coming true.
